چکیده
Abstract The first phase of any hydraulic fracturing (HF) operation is to select carefully the best layers and wells based on a specific set criteria. Selecting HF candidates plays pivotal role in achieving desired objective such that attempt execute this treatment fails without performing comprehensive studies regard. In paper, data from 3 fractured carbonate reservoir one biggest oilfields Iran are studied for selecting candidate. Of these wells, which comprised 45 evaluated layers, candidate wells/layers selected geomechanical point view. Initially, new fracability index appropriate reservoirs, namely total (TFI), defined. This integrates mechanical properties horizontal stresses into an equation. next step, four main criteria, layer thickness, TFI, natural fractures state (including orientation density), fracture confinement, employed choose wells. Lastly, having used criteria analytic hierarchy process, intervals simulation model (P3D) evaluation.

Hydraulic Fracturing: Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future?
With the introduction of hydraulic fracturing technology, the United States has become the largest natural gas producer in the world with a substantial portion of the production coming from shale plays. In this review, we examined current hydraulic fracturing literature including associated wastewater management on quantity and quality of groundwater. We conclude that proper documentation/repor...
متن کاملEnergy Analysis of Hydraulic Fracturing
In this paper, numerical simulations of circular boreholes under internal hydraulic pressure are carried out to investigate the energy transferred to the surrounding rock and the breakdown pressure. The simulations are conducted by using a micromechanical continuum damage model proposed by Golshani et al. (2006). The simulation results suggest that the borehole breakdown pressure and the energy...
متن کاملComplex Fluids and Hydraulic Fracturing.
Nearly 70 years old, hydraulic fracturing is a core technique for stimulating hydrocarbon production in a majority of oil and gas reservoirs. Complex fluids are implemented in nearly every step of the fracturing process, most significantly to generate and sustain fractures and transport and distribute proppant particles during and following fluid injection. An extremely wide range of complex fl...
متن کاملHydraulic fracturing not responsible for methane migration.
Although Osborn et al. (1) provided important geochemical measurements of dissolved methane in a portion of the Appalachian basin, their report does not fully appreciate the geologic history of this region and misrepresents potential risks of modern drilling and completion techniques used to develop shale-gas resources. The fear that hydraulic fracturing is responsible for methane migration fro...
